WHERE IT'S CRAFTED

The Woolshed Vineyard

Planted in 2002, the Woolshed Vineyard consists predominantly of river terrace gravels with overlying silt and loam soils. It is situated in the Wairau Plains Southern Valleys. The vineyard includes erosional clays on hillside slopes with 2800 aspects, unique in Marlborough. The 2020 Woolshed Sauvignon Blanc was sourced from these hillside clays and terraced gravels to deliver a true vineyard expression.

Beyond the Bottle

2020

The vintage behind this wine

All-round, it was a great growing season, with warm temperatures ensuring perfect conditions for flowering and fruit set. The settled weather continued as the fruit ripened, with above-average temperatures, ensuring juicy acidity and concentrated fruit flavours. At the time of picking, the fruit was in optimal condition — healthy, with great flavour and integrity

Marlborough

Marlborough is considered the home of Mud House wines. The brand was formed around vineyards in the region. The Marlborough wine region is by far New Zealand's largest, accounting for three-quarters of the country's wine production. Known for producing exceptional Sauvignon Blanc.

It began as an adventure.

Our founders were a courageous couple who embarked on a sailing tour of the world. On one of the earliest stops, they found New Zealand. They quickly fell in love and decided to end the tour of the world in favour of building a mud house in New Zealand and planting a vineyard.  After preparing the land and planting vines, they used the local earth to build their home. That home became our brand. Over twenty years on, with a renewed sense of energy, we remain as in touch with the land as our name suggests.
