WHERE IT'S CRAFTED

The Mound Vineyard

This Single Vineyard Riesling is sourced from our Mound Vineyard in the Waipara Valley. This vineyard was established in 2002 on terraced gravels that offer little fertility which, along with Waipara’s long growing season, provide perfect conditions for making world-class Riesling.

Beyond the Bottle

Nestled between the hills of North Canterbury, the Waipara Valley offers an exciting blend of soils and climate with a backdrop of natural, untouched beauty.

Vintage Conditions

Waipara had a good growing season, with warm early summer weather optimal for flowering. This provided ideal conditions for ripening fruit. At harvest time, the fruit was in pristine condition.

It began as an adventure.

Our founders were a courageous couple who embarked on a sailing tour of the world. On one of the earliest stops, they found New Zealand. They quickly fell in love and decided to end the tour of the world in favour of building a mud house in New Zealand and planting a vineyard.  After preparing the land and planting vines, they used the local earth to build their home. That home became our brand. Over twenty years on, with a renewed sense of energy, we remain as in touch with the land as our name suggests.
