WHERE IT'S CRAFTED
The gravelly soils of this vineyard enhance the rich and spicy tropical characters of our aromatic wines. This vineyard boasts some of the oldest Pinot Gris vines in the region; with the original planting still on its own roots. The grapes from the Home Block are hand harvested and go into our Mud House Single Vineyard Pinot Gris. The Home Block was site of the original farmer’s house and has retained its name since converting to vines over 20 years ago.

2020
All-round, it was a great growing season, with warm temperatures ensuring perfect conditions for flowering and fruit set. The settled weather continued as the fruit ripened, with above-average temperatures, ensuring juicy acidity and concentrated fruit flavours. At the time of picking, the fruit was in optimal condition — healthy, with great flavour and integrity
Our founders were a courageous couple who embarked on a sailing tour of the world. On one of the earliest stops, they found New Zealand. They quickly fell in love and decided to end the tour of the world in favour of building a mud house in New Zealand and planting a vineyard. After preparing the land and planting vines, they used the local earth to build their home. That home became our brand. Over twenty years on, with a renewed sense of energy, we remain as in touch with the land as our name suggests.
