Single Vineyard

An expression of vineyard and vintage from the pristine single vineyards of the South Island. These wines, crafted in limited quantities are a true expression of the best fruit from these vineyards in a given vintage.

WHERE IT'S CRAFTED

Woolshed Vineyard

The fruit for this Pinot Noir was sourced solely from our Woolshed Vineyard in the upper Wairau Valley. Grown on a uniquely situated north west facing site; directly below the Delta Dam; hence ‘the Dambuster’. North west facing slopes, clay soils and Marlborough’s diurnal (day/night) temperatures provide slow ripening conditions which enhance the structure and increase flavour concentration in the fruit.

Beyond the Bottle

Vintage Conditions

Cold spring conditions were followed by a hot, sunny summer; with cool nights. These slow ripening conditions, along with lighter crop loads, made for some stunningly aromatic Pinot Noir.

Marlborough

Marlborough is considered the home of Mud House wines. The brand was formed around vineyards in the region. The Marlborough wine region is by far New Zealand's largest, accounting for three-quarters of the country's wine production. Known for producing exceptional Sauvignon Blanc.

It began as an adventure.

Our founders were a courageous couple who embarked on a sailing tour of the world. On one of the earliest stops, they found New Zealand. They quickly fell in love and decided to end the tour of the world in favour of building a mud house in New Zealand and planting a vineyard.  After preparing the land and planting vines, they used the local earth to build their home. That home became our brand. Over twenty years on, with a renewed sense of energy, we remain as in touch with the land as our name suggests.
