WHERE IT'S CRAFTED
A long growing season and summer heat deliver beautiful flavours wrapped in bright pure red and dark fruit aromas. Once a gold-mining region, Bendigo is framed by ancient, dry hills and fanned by westerly winds. Fruit from this vineyard is used to create Mud House Single Vineyard Claim 431 Vineyard Central Otago Pinot Noir and Mud House Central Otago Pinot Noir.
WINEMAKER VIDEO
Central Otago is New Zealand's southernmost wine region. What was once a place of rabbits and gold is now the area in which we grow and harness Pinot Noir in Central Otago. The long growing season and summer heat deliver beautiful flavours wrapped in bright, pure red and dark fruit aromas. After time in the bottle, the true spirit of Claim 431 Vineyard reveals itself.
2019
The 2019 vintage started well with a fantastic flowering period that ensured good crop levels. The warm weather that followed ensured fruit ripened beautifully, with intense and well-rounded flavours.
Our founders were a courageous couple who embarked on a sailing tour of the world. On one of the earliest stops, they found New Zealand. They quickly fell in love and decided to end the tour of the world in favour of building a mud house in New Zealand and planting a vineyard. After preparing the land and planting vines, they used the local earth to build their home. That home became our brand. Over twenty years on, with a renewed sense of energy, we remain as in touch with the land as our name suggests.
