comments
The harvest for this single vineyard wine commenced in the Woolshed block on 9th April closely followed by the Hillside blocks on the 14th. Both blocks were harvested at optimum maturity in the cool of the night. The grapes were then carefully transported to the winery for immediate pressing with minimal skin contact. The pressed juice was then cold settled before being cool fermented in stainless steel. Carefully selected yeasts were used to add complexity to the blend and to retain the fresh fruit characteristics from each of the blocks. After the completion of fermentation the wine was carefully balanced and prepared for bottling.

vineyard region
This single vineyard wine was selected from two individual blocks within Mud House’s upper Wairau Valley Marlborough Vineyard. The fertile Woolshed Block gives the wine its pungency, and the differing aspects of the Hill Blocks give the wine its depth and complexity.
vintage conditions
An unusually wet February and early March had us a little worried at the beginning of the season. However the weather gods were on our side and seven weeks of near perfect weather followed through to harvest. The warm days and cool nights in April presented ideal ripening conditions for Sauvignon Blanc. The grapes ripened slowly giving us fantastic acid structure and plenty of vibrant flavours.
