WINE BACKGROUND

VINTAGE REGION

30% of this wine was sourced from our Woolshed Vineyard in the upper Wairau Valley while the remainder was carefully selected from grower blocks in the Wairau, Ure and Awatere Valleys of Marlborough.

VINTAGE CONDITIONS

Bud break was late in September and was followed by a warm frost-free spring. Adequate rainfall and warm temperatures meant that the shoots grew quickly and flowering was earlier than normlal. From February onwards, the season cooled and although harvest began a few days earlier than normal in mid March, it didn't complete until 20th April.

GRAPE VARIETY

100% Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc

MATURATION

100% stainless steel fermentation

ACCOLADES

Gold & Best in Class - IWSC The International Wine & Spirit Competition (UK) 2011
5 Stars "This is such a fabulous, flavour-packed sauvignon that it’s hard to know where to start. But I’ll begin with its lovely aromas of elderflower, preserved lemon and passionfruit which lead to luscious layers of citrus, basil and a splash of fresh-cut grass. Pungent, punchy and absolute perfection with pan-fried fresh fish of any description.” Yvonne Lorkin

4 Stars, Winestate Magazine (Australia), March 2012. “ Stylish regional blend, grown in the Wairau, Awatere and Ure valleys. Aromatic, punchy and minerally, with good vigour and intensity of fresh melon, lime and green capsicum flavours that build to a crisp, slightly nettley finish.”

88 Points/ 4 Stars "Classically expressed, the bouquet shows lifted aromas of grapefruit, white peach and capsicum notes. It's beautifully ripe and lively on the palate with good intensity and crisp, mouth-watering finish. A well balanced Sauvignon with immediately appealing flavours. At its best: now to 2014.
