OUR WINES
Mud House Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2010
Due to the cool start, our 2010 Sauvignon Blanc harvest started a little later than usual on the 30th March. April gave us perfect harvest conditions and we picked our last block on the 23rd of April. After harvesting the grapes were transported to the winery and crushed with minimal skin contact to avoid juice deterioration. After settling, each batch was cool fermented in stainless steel using a variety of cultured yeasts to add complexity to the blend and to retain fresh fruit characteristics. The wines were blended shortly after the completion of fermentation, then carefully balanced and prepared for bottling.

VINTAGE REGION
A quarter of the fruit for this wine was sourced from the Mud House Vineyard in the upper Wairau Valley. The remainder is from carefully selected grower vineyards in the Awatere, Ure, and Wairau valleys.
VINTAGE CONDITIONS
2010 Marlborough growing season started with cool but stable weather through flowering. As a result the vines gave us an even fruit set but naturally lower yields. The cool weather continued until into autumn. This colder than usual start to the season extended the ripening period, which is perfect for intensifying flavours and concentrating aromatics. A burst of warm and settled weather in February and March meant we reached maximum sugar ripeness without any problems or any disease pressure. In the winery things were as calm as the weather – the fruit quality was excellent, the flavours and concentration were outstanding and the winery team was smiling. A dream Harvest.
