2008 HAY MAKeR
Waipara Riesling

colour
Pale yellow with a soft green hue
nose
Lifted floral notes combine with delicate orange peel and lemon/lime notes.
palate
The floral and citrus notes flow on to the palate. The finish gives plenty of juicy acidity and balanced fruit sweetness.
comments
The grapes were harvested at optimum maturity in the cool Waipara autumn. A cool fermentation using selected yeasts created wonderful lifted aromatics. After blending, the wine was fined using traditional methods before filtering and bottling.
vineyard region
The Riesling fruit sourced for this wine came from the Glasnevin and Mound Vineyards, both of these vineyards are owned by the company and have produced a pedigree of awarded wines. Both vineyards are situated on the banks of the Waipara River, the Glasnevin vineyard soils consist of river deposited stony silt loams giving excellent minerality. The Mound (to the west) has free draining silt loams over stones and has produced some of the finest Riesling fruit in the Waipara region.

Waipara Valley 2008 vintage conditions were superb, with a long warm growing season that resulted in optimal fruit ripeness at harvest.
