Built in 1997, our Waipara winery was purchased by Mud House in 2006. A recent multi-million dollar upgrade means the facility is now one of the most advanced wineries in the country.
Located directly behind The Mud House Cellar Door and Café the winery is designed to cater for fruit from different regions and multiple varieties. The winery has a crush capacity of around 1,200 tons with the potential to increase that in the future. The holding capacity of the winery is currently just less than one million litres.
Our talented winemaker, Simon McGeorge, trained at Lincoln University in 1997. He has wine making experience in Australia, United States, France, Slovenia and of course New Zealand. Simon was based in the Hawke's Bay for three years prior to his appointment at the Waipara winery. He has also worked a number of seasons in Marlborough.
