The Rapaura Sauvignon Blanc is one of five wines in the Marlborough Sub Region Series that Mud House winemaker Cleighten Cornelius produces; with grapes sourced from the sub region that put New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc on the world map. “The eastern end of Rapaura Road is where the river soils converge with more alluvial and younger silts. This gives Sauvignon Blanc an overt lift and pungency, while adding lovely crunchy phenolic textures”.
Just the second vintage in for this wine, Cleighten was thrilled to see this powerful grapefuit and passionfruit pith style Sauvignon Blanc standing up at a wine show as significant as SIWC.
“It’s got a great full palate, and holds complexity with a good balanced quenching finish,” he said.
