2008 MUD HOUSE
South Island Pinot Gris
14 October 2009- The KROW (Key Review of Wines) Issue 22
90 POINTS
"A rich vibrant style that I enjoy, but others won't therefore those who like more austere pinot gris won't agree with the 90 points I give it and also think it very good value" Tony Keys
01 July 2009- Winewise Australian Magazine
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: "There's plenty of depth to this wine which offers plenty of poached pear and peach flavour. It's a satisfying, ready to drink style with a touch of sweetness. A very versatile table wine. Excellent Value 13.0% Screwcap"

"Jesus - this is good! The moment you taste this wine it oozes of spiced custard, apricot, lemon myrtle and pear. The texture of the wine is quite oily and viscous - just like a good Alsatian Pinot Gris should be - except this wine is from the south island of New Zealand."
Quality: 4.25 stars
Value: 3.75 stars

The 2008 Pinot Gris is a blend of Marlborough and Waipara regions. "The Waipara component of the blend comes from a couple of vineyards surrounding the Waipara winery. These vineyards experience slightly cooler temperatures during ripening with slightly longer sunshine hours compared to Marlborough," Baden said. "This gives the fruit lovely flavour characteristics." Match it with any salmon dish or mast pork with stewed pears.

“(Marlborough/Waipara) Newly arrived winemaker Ant Mackenzie (ex-spy Valley) is delighted by his first Waipara vintage at Mud House. Witness this off-dry, bright, pears-and-custard infused, moreish wine.”
2007 MUD HOUSE
Gisborne Pinot Gris
01 November 2008- Food Town Magazine November 2008, "Never Say No to Pinot"
Variety: pinot Gris
Body: medium-bodied, ripe and smooth
Alcohol: 13%
Drink: now and over the next 18 months
A big, richly flavoured pinot gris, with lots of ripe pear, apple and almost a touch of marshmallow. Despite her preference for lighter styles of wine, Sarah liked this wine particularly because it was more intense and full-bodied. This wine would be excellent with food – a creamy Thai curry perhaps.
