Mud House Swan Reviews
2008 MUD HOUSE SWAN
Central Otago Pinot Noir
05 February 2010- Gourmet Traveller - WINE Feb-March 2010
93 POINTS
This wine "impressed us with its rich dark cherry flavour and hints of jam. [Sommelier Sophie] Otton supported it strongly, finding "a lifted, pretty nose. I love the palate, which was fresh and alive, with lots of energy. Juicy, raspberry flacour. Fresh sappy notes and complex touches." {Huon} Hooke thought it "a fruit bomb" and lacking length, while still liking the flavours. The silky-smooth tannins make the wine delicous drinking now and it should age well, too."

"Youthful, deeply coloured red from Bendigo, full-bodied, with a strong surge of cherryish, plummy flavour, lightly seasoned with oak. Fruit-packed and supple, with good muscle and depth"

"Mud House's premium Pinot Noir and excellent it is too. The bright purple colour contains soft, ripe fruit that is really savoury with spicy undertones. Good length and structure and will continue to develop."

4 Stars, 92/100
Swan, the Mud House reserve label, is showing class, clarity and richness, deep dark concentrated cherry fruit aromas, really pure and primary, gentle fragrance. The palate picks up with bright acidity and takes a fine tannin line to the finish, decent flesh through the middle, pure cherry flavour again, finishes juicy. Perfect for smaller birds like duck.

Delicious young, this exuberantly fruity red was grown at Bendigo. It is deeply coloured, mouthfilling and smooth, with strong, ripe cherry, plum and spice flavours, subtle oak and gentle tannins.

Dense in appearance, aromatic and perfumed with fine silky tannins and an earthy gamey depth to the sweet red fruits with exotic spices adding intrigue. A citrussy note adds a bright flourish to the savoury finish.
