2009 MUD HOUSE SWAN
Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc
09 April 2010- Gourmet Traveller WINE APril/May 2010 issue
95 POINTS & 5 STARS
"Full flavoured sauvignon blanc with strong green capsicum, box hedge, gooseberry and cut grass flavours. Mouth-watering acidity adds freshness and focus. This is a bold, gutsy and quite complex Marlborough style."

"MUD HOUSE SWAN MARLBOROUGH SAUVIGNON BLANC 2009
Elderflower, mung bean, spice, sweat, a touch of ripe tropical fruit... pour top Sauvignon elicited a range of flavour descriptors. The panel converged, though, on the question of balance. ALl the wine's elements play off each other in a delicate, even dance. There is nothing extraneous, just a seamless dose of Marlborough enchantment. "Almost the perfect Sauvignon Blanc," thought Nick Stock.

25 March 2009- 16.5 out of 20, Jancis Robinson Review
16.5/20 Points. Drink 2008-09
Zesty, herbaceous and lightly spiced (ginger?). Lovely zesty purity but with the weight to carry through to a balanced long finish. 12.5% Alc. Jancis Robinson.
01 February 2009- Gourmet Traveller WINE Magazine Feb/Mar 2009
Similar in style to the winery’s basic label but with greater concentration and the addition of pronounced tomato leaf and mineral/matchstick flavours to the tropical fruit and grassy characters. Very pungent, with appealing fruit purity. 91 Points - Bob Campbell MW
15 November 2008- Warren Barton, Southland Times
One of two sauvignon blancs made for the Mud House label by Ant Mackenzie that has already turned the heads and won the hearts of the wine show judges with its pungency, its flintiness, fruit purity and concentration. A show-off that deserves attention.
18 October 2008- Cheers - Warren Barton for Southland Times
Juicy, racy wine with a trophy already to its credit.

The top Mud House Wines sauvignon
Lemon green to lemon, the richest colour of the Mud House sauvignons. Bouquet is superbly classical Marlborough sauvignon, white nectarine, red capsicum and black passionfruit with complexing notes of sweet basil and other aromatic herbs, honeysuckle florals, plus faint musky armpit notes at an acceptable level, all very attractive indeed. On palate there is a richness and satisfaction of flavour which makes one wonder, in the blind tasting, is there trace barrel-ferment / new oak there too. When subtle, it is impossible to tell, given the phenolics of ripe sauvignon. Flavour is long in mouth, tasting all free-run, and low in phenolics. Residual sugar is the usual ‘dry’ level for the variety. This is model modern Marlborough sauvignon, to cellar up to 10 years, if mature wines appeal. GK 02/08

4 Stars
Ripely scented, fleshy and concentrated, with good weight and passionfruit/lime flavours threaded with lively acidity. Crisp, well balanced and rich.
