Chardonnay Tasting Panel

“A fleshy style that balances stone fruits with subtle layers of white smokiness. The palate is supported with some well-defined, yet not overused, oak. A deliciously easy drinking style with an appealing soft finish.”

The 2016 Sub Region Series Omaka Chardonnay has received Best Buy and four stars in Cuisine Magazine’s annual Chardonnay tasting panel.  Offering pure scents of white nectarine with touches of fine vanilin spiced oak, this is a lovely 2016 Chardonnay that is getting better every year.  It’s a great pleasure to receive this accolade from New Zealand’s leading foodie magazine, and is testament to our focus on the sub regions of Marlborough to express the best characteristics of each varietal. In this case, the Chardonnay is sourced from Omaka – also famous for the world class Omaka Aviation Centre.  The soils of the sub region have significant amounts of silt, gravel and higher levels of clay than the lower reaches of the Wairau Valley.  With warmer north facing aspect, the chardonnay grapes offer focused stonefruit and citrus pitch characters – perfect to support oak and extended lees contact, giving chardonnay lovers that gorgeous lightly buttered toast flavour.  Here’s to all the chardonnay lovers out there, we hope you enjoy this very affordable and drinkable Chardonnay.
